Liposuction is a body contouring modality in which fatty deposits are first broken down via power-assisted, laser or ultrasonic devices and then suctioned out of the body by negative pressure vacuum systems. Tumescent solutions are infiltered to the area to be contoured at the beginning of these operations in order to reduce bleeding and pain. All three device types are used in our daily practice.

Liposuction is usually done to abdomen, thighs, legs, back, arms and neck. Persistent bulgings in those regions, resistant to diet and exercise may benefit from liposuction.Skin elasticity is important for the skin to smoothly redrape over the contoured area otherwise some amount of extra skin should be excised just as in lifting operations. If there is any saggy tissue liposuction will likely increase the sagginess if performed alone.

Liposuction is not a weight loss operation. Overweight patients sometimes consider it as a starting point of a weight loss journey however this is not right. This is a body contouring operation and better results are achieved with athletic patients having regional problems and good skin elasticity. Liposuction up to 5 liters is universally considered as relatively safe, and if needed further sessions may be required, Patients with bleeding tendencies or with history of venous thromboembolism, smokers, obesity, poor health status for anaesthesia, and pregnancy planning in the close future may not be suitable for this operation.

Every aesthetic invasive procedure ends up with scars. Liposuction leaves dot like scars, number of these scars are more related to the number of areas to be performed and are usually well hidden in body lines or body folds. Rippling, uneven contours, and irregularities are other possible unwanted cosmetic complications.

Usually 1-2 days of hospitalization after the surgery and 5-7 days follow up period after discharge is adequate. Compressive garments are used for 2-4 weeks in general. Pain is mild usually for a few days. Fully return to daily activities or your job would take a few days to 1-2 weeks depending on the extent of the operation.

Liposuction in Turkey

Liposuction in Turkey has become increasingly popular among both local and international patients seeking aesthetic and body contouring procedures. Turkey is known for its high-quality medical services, experienced surgeons, and state-of-the-art facilities, often at a fraction of the cost compared to many Western countries. Here are some key points to consider if you're thinking about getting liposuction in Turkey:

1. Highly Skilled Surgeons

  • Turkey boasts a number of highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeons, many of whom have trained internationally. These surgeons are adept at performing various liposuction techniques, including traditional, VASER, laser-assisted, and ultrasound-assisted liposuction, ensuring patients have access to the latest advancements in cosmetic surgery.

2. Cost-Effectiveness

  • One of the main attractions for choosing Turkey for liposuction is the cost. The prices for cosmetic procedures in Turkey are significantly lower than in many other countries, without compromising on the quality of care. The lower cost is due to the country's lower cost of living and favorable exchange rates, not a lower standard of care.

3. Comprehensive Packages

  • Many Turkish medical facilities offer comprehensive packages for international patients, which often include the surgery, hospital stay, post-operative care, accommodation, and sometimes even airport transfers and translation services. These packages make the process more convenient and stress-free for patients traveling from abroad.

4. State-of-the-Art Facilities

  • Turkey's private hospitals and clinics are modern and equipped with the latest technology. They are designed to provide high-quality medical care and comfort to patients, adhering to international standards of hygiene and safety.

5. Cultural and Touristic Opportunities

  • Patients who choose to have their liposuction procedure in Turkey also have the opportunity to experience the country's rich cultural heritage and visit tourist attractions either before their surgery or during their recovery period, as advised by their surgeon.

6. Post-Operative Care

  • After liposuction, proper post-operative care is crucial for optimal results. Many clinics in Turkey offer excellent follow-up care, including check-ups and assistance with recovery, to ensure patients are well taken care of throughout their healing process.

Considerations

  • Research: Thoroughly research and choose a reputable clinic and surgeon. Look for reviews, before-and-after photos, and the surgeon's credentials.
  • Consultation: Have a detailed consultation with your chosen surgeon before deciding. Discuss your goals, expectations, and any concerns you may have.
  • Recovery: Plan for your recovery period. While you might want to enjoy Turkey, ensure you give your body the rest it needs to heal properly.
  • Regulations and Accreditation: Check that the clinic and surgeon are accredited by relevant Turkish and international medical organizations.

Choosing to have liposuction in Turkey can be a rewarding decision, offering both high-quality medical care and an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of the country. However, as with any medical procedure, it's important to conduct thorough research and choose a reputable provider to ensure the safest and most effective outcome.

Liposuction Turkey Prices

Liposuction prices in Turkey vary widely based on several factors including the type of procedure, the surgeon's experience, the clinic's reputation, and the specific areas being treated.

The price of liposuction in Turkey can vary significantly based on a variety of factors. Here are some of the main criteria that influence the cost:

  1. Surgeon’s Experience: Surgeons with extensive experience and a solid reputation typically charge more for their services. This is due to their proven track record and expertise in performing cosmetic surgeries, which can reassure patients of better outcomes (International Clinics).

  2. Clinic’s Reputation: Well-established clinics with high standards of care, modern facilities, and a good reputation in the field of cosmetic surgery tend to have higher prices. These clinics often offer comprehensive care packages that include post-operative care and follow-up services, contributing to the overall cost

  3. Type of Liposuction: The cost can also vary depending on the type of liposuction procedure. Advanced techniques like Vaser liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction, or power-assisted liposuction are generally more expensive than traditional methods due to the specialized equipment and skills required.

  4. Targeted Body Area: The complexity and size of the area being treated also affect the price. Treating larger areas such as the abdomen or back is usually more costly compared to smaller areas like the arms or legs. This is because larger areas require more time, precision, and resources.

  5. Additional Services: Many clinics offer packages that include various extras such as pre-surgical consultations, anesthesia, post-operative care, medications, and sometimes even accommodations and transport for international patients. These comprehensive packages are designed to provide a complete care experience but can increase the overall cost.

  6. Geographical Location: The location of the clinic within Turkey can also influence prices. Clinics in major cities like Istanbul or Ankara may charge more due to higher operational costs compared to those in smaller cities.

These criteria are important to consider when evaluating the cost of liposuction in Turkey, as they can significantly influence the final price you pay for the procedure.

Types of Liposuction

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery method that aims to remove excess fat from the body. There are several different liposuction techniques. Here are the most commonly used liposuction types:

  1. Tumescent Liposuction: It is the most common method. A large amount of saline solution, local anaesthetic and drugs are injected into the fat tissue. This process allows the fat to be absorbed more easily.
  2. Ultrasonic Liposuction (UAL): Fat cells are broken down using ultrasound waves. This technique is especially effective for dense fat tissues.
  3. Laser Liposuction (LAL): Laser technology is used to melt fat cells. It is ideal for the removal of smaller fat deposits and can also help with skin tightening.
  4. Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL): A cannula is moved by a mechanical device, which allows for faster and less strenuous removal of fat.
  5. Water Jet Assisted Liposuction (WAL): In this method, pressurised water jets are sent through the body before removing the fat cells. This technique allows the fat to be removed more gently.
  6. Vaser Liposuction: It is a type of ultrasound technology and offers a more precise fat removal. It is particularly suitable for body contouring and contour correction.

Each liposuction technique may be suitable for different needs and expectations. It is important to make a detailed assessment with a plastic surgeon to decide which method is best for you.
